Product Description
Lexmark E120 / E120n Toner Cartridge - 2,000 Pages

This toner cartridge prints 2000 pages with average 5% coverage (Nearly all Printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage).

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Lexmark.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Lexmark E120 Review

Overview:

The Lexmark E120 network ready printer suffers severely from the fact that it was released in 2005 and is no longer up to par with current laser print standards. This 20 page per minute device is not yet ready to be reduced to paper weight status, but will not deliver the impressive performance that can be found affordably in devices currently on shelves.

Pros:

Despite its age, the Lexmark E120 is still quite desktop friendly thanks to its small footprint as well as its attractive grey case design. Total dimensions of 15.3 x 14 x 9.8 inches (W x D x H) mean that, though not quite as minuscule as devices that have been since released, the printer is capable of qualifying for personal use. The Lexmark E120N model also allows network connectivity, which allows the unit more freedom of placement in the office. Its weight of only 15.2 pounds also means that moving the device around is no problem.

The unit’s 183 MHz processor is just about right on par for a device of this caliber, and is quite enough power to support the device’s fairly low print speed. Connectivity comes in the form of a USB port as well as an Ethernet port in the Lexmark E120N model. The device is pretty far from being capable of supporting a workgroup’s print demands, but the network ability should serve a home office quite well.

Thankfully, the Lexmark E120 is Mac compatible, unlike some other printers and MFCs from the brand. PCL 6 and PostScript 3 emulations are both included in the package, though PostScript is, for some reason, only compatible with Mac setups.

A 10,000 page maximum monthly duty cycle means that the Lexmark E120 will not be winning any awards for durability, but should be able to take a reasonable amount of abuse from an individual or family. It should also be noted that the printer is remarkably quiet when in operation. Its maximum volume is about 49 dBa while its resting noise level is only 26 dBA, resulting in a very ear-friendly printing experience.

Cons:

The Lexmark E120’s 16 MBs of RAM are is not expandable, as the printer is a fairly bare bones device. Its print speeds top out at 20 pages per minute, placing it a solid 10 pages per minute behind the current standard that rests at about 30 ppm and is continually creeping higher. Its first page out time of only 8 seconds is actually quite good, not to mention competitive. In fact, when printing single pages, users won’t notice much a difference between the Lexmark E120 and a new printer.

The print quality of the Lexmark E120 is actually quite good; it is its overall print resolution that is lacking. Basic business graphics and even full on grey scale photographic imagery printed from the device is free of any banding or unevenness, but will appear grainy due to the device’s limited resolution. Only 600 x 600 dots per inch of true quality are available from the device, though an enhanced 1200 image quality is selectable.
