LEXMARK E240 FUSER ASSEMBLY UNIT

The Lexmark E240 Laser Printer monitors the condition of the installed fuser assembly unit constantly. The machine will use one of the listed secondary light patterns or error codes to warn the user if a fuser-related abnormality occurs. Please replace the fuser assembly unit or the failed fuser component if any of the listed indications appears.

The [Ready] indicator is on, or the error code [920] is displayed

The [Ready] and the [Error] indicators are on, or the error code [921] is displayed

The [Ready] and the [Paper Jam] indicators are on, or the error code [922] is displayed

Please note that some fuser-related abnormalities cannot be detected by the Lexmark E240 Laser Printer. All print quality issues listed below indicate such abnormalities.

Before replacing the fuser assembly unit, you must remove the right side cover, the left side cover, the rear cover, and the paper exit-guide assembly. All removal procedures are included below.

1. Removal of the right side cover

You must open the front access cover, and then open the output tray. After that, you must release the tabs that fix the left side of the right side cover to the printer frame, and then swing open the cover. Finally, you must remove the right side cover by lifting its top rear portion over the pivot point.

2. Removal of the left side cover

You must open the output tray, and then open the front access cover. Next, you must remove the screw from the right side of the left side cover, and then release the tabs. After that, you must swing the left side cover open, and then remove it by lifting its top rear part over the pivot point.

3. Removal of the rear cover

Once the right side cover and the left side cover are removed, you must remove the two fixing screws of the rear cover, and then open the rear door. After that, you must remove the rear cover by unhooking it from the printer frame.

4. Removal of the paper exit-guide assembly

You must remove the three screws, which secure the exit guide into place, and then pull the assembly out of the Lexmark E240 Laser Printer.

5. Replacement of the fuser assembly unit

Initially, you must remove the two fixing screws from the front side of the exhausted fuser assembly unit, and then unplug the connectors of the thermistor and the exit sensor from the controller card. After that, you must slide the exhausted fuser assembly unit towards you until the power cables on the right side are accessible, and then disconnect the power cables. Now, you must pull the exhausted fuser assembly unit carefully out of the Lexmark E240 Laser Printer, and then unpack the replacement component. Once the new fuser assembly unit is unpacked, you must connect the power cables to the new component, and then slide it firmly into place. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must attach the connectors of the thermistor and the exit sensor to the controller card, and then secure the new fuser assembly unit with the two screws. Finally, you must reinstall all previously removed components by following the corresponding removal procedures in reverse order.
