How to Install a Low Voltage Power Supply in the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer
Please note that you must remove the following components before replacing the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS):

1. Left rear cover
2. System board cover
3. ADF unit
4. Flatbed assembly
5. Upper right rear cover
6. Cleaning roller cover
7. Photodeveloper cartridge
8. Top cover assembly
9. Left front cover
10. Transfer belt
11. System board cage
12. Installed LVPS

All removal and replacement procedures are included below.

1. Left Rear Cover Removal

You must turn the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer off, and then unplug the power cord. After that, you must remove the screw that secures the left rear cover to the printer frame, and then remove the left rear cover by sliding it to the left.

2. System Board Cover Removal

You must unplug all USB and network cables from the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer, and then remove the screw securing the system board cover. Next, you must remove the system board cover by pulling it away from the main unit.

3. ADF Unit Removal

Initially, you must detach the upper left rear cover from the main unit, and then remove the fixing screw from the ADF. After that, you must unplug the ADF cable from the system board, and then remove the ADF cable cover. Now, you must route the cable and the ground wire of the ADF through the RIP cage and flatbed unit. In the next step of the removal procedure, you must pull the flatbed cover away from the flatbed, and then release the tab of the ADF unit retainer. Finally, you must remove the ADF unit by lifting it up and away from the flatbed unit.

4. Flatbed Assembly Removal

In the first step, you must open the MFP rear cover, and then remove the screws, which secure the upper left and right covers to the printer chassis. Next, you must unplug the CCD ribbon cable, the operator panel cable, and the flatbed motor cable from the system board. After that, you must route the cables through the RIP cage and around the fuser fan, and then remove the ribbon cable guide. Now, you must remove the four screws that fix the flatbed assembly to the scanner arms, and then tilt the scanner assembly vertically. In the concluding step of the removal procedure, you must remove the flatbed assembly by lifting it off the printer engine base.

5. Upper Right Rear Cover Removal

You must open the rear cover, and then remove the fixing screw of the upper right rear cover. Next, you must remove the upper right rear cover by pulling it away from the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer.

6. Cleaning Roller Cover Removal

You must raise the scanner unit, and then open the top cover of your Lexmark X500n Laser Printer. After that, you must remove the cleaning roller cover by pressing its tabs inwards.

7. Photodeveloper Cartridge Removal

You must unlock the photodeveloper cartridge by pressing its release levers inwards. Then, you must pull the developer cartridge straight upwards to remove it from the laser printer.

8. Top Cover Assembly Removal

In the initial step, you must open the OPC cover, and then remove the two screws from the top cover assembly. Next, you must remove the rear cover, and then remove the screw securing the top cover to the MFP frame. After that, you must remove the screw from the right side of the top cover, and then release the front tabs of the top cover assembly. Finally, you must remove the top cover assembly from the main unit.

9. Left Front Cover Removal

You must remove the two screws from the bottom of the left front cover, and then detach the left front cover from the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer.

10. Transfer Belt Removal

You must open the rear cover assembly, and then unlock the transfer belt by rotating the two captive screws counterclockwise. After that, you must pull the transfer belt out of the laser printer.

11. System Board Cage Removal

Once the left front cover is removed, you must remove the three screws from the engine card shield, and then unplug all cables from the engine card. Next, you must disconnect the modem speaker cable from the RIP card. After that, you must remove the three screws, which secure the card cage to the printer chassis, and then remove the system board cage from the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer.

12. Replacement of the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS)

Initially, you must remove the screw from the grounding terminal, and then disconnect the bracket connector of the LVPS. After that, you must detach the power supply bracket by removing the three fixing screws, and then remove the screw from the left side of the LVPS. Now, you must unplug all connectors from the LVPS, and then remove the six screws (three metal and three plastic screws) from the LVPS. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must pull the LVPS out of the Lexmark X500n Laser Printer, and then unpack the replacement component. Finally, you must install the new LVPS by executing the current procedure in reverse order.
