HP PhotoSmart 2575 Review

Overview:

The HP PhotoSmart 2575 all-in-one printer is the perfect size for a home office (or just personal home use), and it not only prints but it also scans, faxes, and copies. This modern printer is sleek and lightweight, so it can be moved around easily and can fit on top a table, desk, or even a shelf. The total weight for this compact printer is 12.2 pounds (6.7” H x 17.2”W x 11.1”D), and even though it is small it is more versatile than some larger printers. The printer only uses two ink cartridges, and there is one for just plain black while the other is for color. This is because it is used often for printing out photos, which is one of the reasons people purchase this printer – for quality photo printing.

Pros:

The main reason people buy the HP PhotoSmart 2575 all-in-one printer is because it can print colored photos. Also, the machine comes with a small device called an LCD screen, and this is where photos can be edited and previewed before they are printed. This way the photo will be printed out the way it is wanted once instead of having to keep printing out incorrect photos, which this wastes time and paper to keep printing it out and then fixing it until it is right.

Because HP PhotoSmart 2575 is an all-in-one printer it has an option for copying, and having a built in copier makes copying documents or photos easier. Home businesses have an urgent need for a copier because they are usually copying documents, so having the copier in-built into the printer save them time and money. The copier has the capacity to make 99 copies off of the original document, and it can produce up to 24 copies per minute in color and 30 copies per minute in black. However, depending on the size or complexity of the document being copied the speed will either go slower or faster than normal.

Cons:

One thing to look out for with the HP PhotoSmart 2575 all-in-one printer is that the environment has the right temperature. Because if the temperature is too hot or too cold it will cause problems for the printer, and some of these issues include jammed paper, smeared ink, curled paper, and malfunctioning electronics. If it is too cold in the environment where the printer is, it could cause the electronics of the printer to malfunction in different ways. However, if it is too hot in the environment than it can cause the paper to curl and ink to smear, which will reduce the quality of the document or photo being printed and will have to be thrown out.

A common problem with the HP PhotoSmart 2575 printer is that the paper jams, and the reason for this is because the machine is used for everything (scanning, copying, faxing, and printing). Since the printer is smaller, and has the “all-in-one” capacity it is more likely to jam because it is used more often than if it only had printing capabilities. The paper feed is the part of the machine that jams the most, and because the printer is complex in its make-up it jams because it goes slower than a normal printer does. Because there is only a certain amount of power the printer can take, which this is what makes it print slower than desired and this is also what causes jamming.

Another problem with the HP PhotoSmart 2575 printer is that it will not print on certain types of papers, and the papers it has problems recognizing envelopes and labels. The printer is said to be able to print on these particular documents, but when they are put into to printer the machine gives a message that it does not recognize the paper size. The types of paper that the printer is said to be able to produce includes plain paper, legal paper, cards, envelopes, transparency film, labels, and photo paper.
