The lifespan of the toner cartridge installed in your Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer depends on various factors, such as the percentage of print/page coverage, the paper size, the paper type, the number of pages printed per task, and toner cartridge type. Please be aware that the toner cartridge consists of components that are sensitive to light, temperature, and humidity. Therefore, you must store the replacement toner cartridge in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

As a consumable, user-replaceable component, the installed toner cartridge must be replaced when it reaches near or at the end of its useful life. Please note that some print quality problems also indicate that the installed toner cartridge should be replaced. The red [Status] LED is on – You must check the status of the installed toner cartridge from the control panel or from the Smart Panel program. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if necessary.

The red [Status] LED flashes – The internal components of the installed toner cartridge are at the end of their useful life, or the toner level is low. You should install a new toner cartridge.

The error message [Install Toner] is displayed – The Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer cannot define the status of the toner cartridge. This could be due to an incorrect installation or defective cartridge. You should try to solve the problem by reinstalling the toner cartridge. Please replace the installed toner cartridge with a new one if the Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer continues to display the [Install Toner] error message.

The error message [Invalid Toner] is displayed – The installed toner cartridge has been recognized as incompatible. You must install a new toner cartridge designed for use in your Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer.

The status message [Toner Low] is displayed – The Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer displays this message once the level of remaining toner drops under 5%. You must make sure that you have a replacement toner cartridge in stock.

The notification [Non-Genuine Toner <Stop>] or [Non-Genuine Toner <> Replace Toner] is displayed – You have installed a compatible, non-OEM toner cartridge. You have to select [Continue] if you want to use the installed toner cartridge.

The status message [Replace Toner] or [Toner Exhausted] is displayed – All print/copy operations have been disabled due to completely exhausted toner cartridge. You must install a new toner cartridge to resume printing.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer

Important: Please do not touch the green surface of the organic photoconductive drum, and do not expose the new toner cartridge to unnecessary vibrations. Please do not try to rotate the drum manually. The organic photoconductive drum should not be exposed to light for more than a few minutes.

You must start the replacement procedure by opening the front cover of your Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer. Then, you must remove the used toner cartridge by pulling it slowly out of the print compartment. After that, you must take the new toner cartridge out of the plastic bag, and then remove the packing tape. Please note that you should shake the new toner cartridge several times up and down to loosen the toner inside. In the concluding step of the replacement procedure, you must slide the new toner cartridge along the guides of the slot until it snaps into place, and then close the front cover of your Samsung ML-3470 Monochrome Laser Printer.
