When do I Replace a Drum Unit in the Sharp FO-5500 Fax Machine?

The useful life of the drum unit installed in your Sharp FO-5500 Fax Machine is approx. 20,000 prints at 5% black-to-white ratio. You should replace the installed drum unit if the [Drum Cartridge] indicator is blinking or steadily lit.

How to Install a Drum Unit in the Sharp FO-5500 Fax Machine

Important: In order to avoid exposing your eyes to the laser beam, you should never look inside the machine when the drum unit is removed.

In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must open the top cover of the Sharp FO-5500 Fax Machine, and then remove the toner cartridge. After that, you must pull the exhausted drum unit out of the fax machine, and then unpack the new drum unit. Now, you must align the labels stamped on the new drum unit with the labels inside the compartment, and then insert the new component into place. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must reinstall the toner cartridge, and then close the top cover of your Sharp FO-5500 Fax Machine. Finally, you must reset the drum count by pressing [V] – [3] – [Start].
