When do I Replace an Ink Cartridge in the Epson Stylus Color 880 Ink Jet Printer?

Your Epson Stylus Color 880 Ink Jet Printer is equipped with two ink cartridges: one Black ink cartridge and one Color ink cartridge. You must replace the installed ink cartridges, when:

The [Add Black Ink] LED is flashing – The installed Black ink cartridge is near the end of its useful life. You should purchase a new Black ink cartridge.

The [Add Color Ink] LED is flashing – The Color ink supply is low. You must install a new Color ink cartridge soon, in order to be avoided print-quality issues.

The [Add Black Ink] LED is on – Your Epson Stylus Color 880 Ink Jet Printer cannot print because the installed Black ink cartridge is empty. You must install a new Black ink cartridge.

The [Add Color Ink] LED is on – The installed Color ink cartridge is empty. You must install a new Color ink cartridge.

The [Add Black Ink] and the [Add Color Ink] LEDs are on and the [Power] LED is blinking – You must make sure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. You should also check the printer for paper jams. A new ink cartridge set must be installed, if the problem persists.

Print quality is poor – You should replace all nearly empty, or/and outdated/expired ink cartridges to resolve the issue. The complete replacement procedure is included below.

How to Install an Ink Cartridge in the Epson Stylus Color 880 Ink Jet Printer

You must make sure that the Epson Stylus Color 880 Ink Jet Printer is turned on and that all printing operations have been completed or stopped. Then, you must open the top cover. After that, you must press and hold down the [Cleaning] button (if you are replacing an expired/outdated ink cartridge, you must press and hold down the [load/eject] button) for about three seconds, and then open the cover that is securing the exhausted ink cartridge into place. Please note that the installed ink cartridges are arranged in the following order (left - right): Black, and Color. In the next step, you must carefully pull the exhausted ink cartridge out of the main unit, and unpack the new component. Now, you must detach the yellow tape seal from the top of the new toner cartridge, and then insert the new component into the cartridge-carriage, but please make sure that the tabs on the back of the cartridge are hanged on the hooks inside the slot. Once the new ink cartridge is correctly inserted, you must close the cover of the slot, but without pushing/pressing down the new cartridge. Then, press the [Cleaning] button (press the [load/eject] button if you are replacing an outdated ink cartridge). Finally, you must close the top cover of your Epson Stylus Color 880 Ink Jet Printer, and wait until the [Power] LED stops flashing.

Epson Stylus Color 880 ink is quick-drying and smudge-proof. Toner cartridges yield up to 900 prints. Epson 880 ink cartridges can be used for long lengths of time before they need to be refilled, that will allow you to save money.

The printer will tell you when ink cartridges will run out. Stylus Color ink cartridges are easily inserted into units. For only 3.3 cents per page of black Epson 880 ink and 11.6 cents per page of color, the Epson 880's printer ink is relatively inexpensive.

Output quality with the Epson Stylus Color 880 is excellent. Color images can be used for making brochures. Colors are accurate and show no signs of dithering. Text prints are sharp and demonstrate no signs of feathering.
