Overview:

Toshiba e-Studio 165 strikes a balance between copying, printing, scanning and faxing functions-- all in one in its compact design. Its multifunction device that’s truly great for improving office productivity while delivering cost efficiency. With the four functions in one device, it is certainly space saving making it fit for work area in space-limited environment. It resembles like a rectangular box in cream color that’s made more aesthetically pleasing by a few styling gray colored panels. All around it are some simple yet smart-looking lines and on front most part at the top embedded in a gray panel are useful highlights. These include an LCD display and an array of several buttons for controls.

Pros:

Satisfaction is served with its fast engine speed thanks to the aid of a 333 MHz PowerPC 705 processor and the standard memory of 48 MB which is expandable for up to 112 MB. Not only fast but it’s also reliable with a drum guaranteeing of up to 72,000 yields and a toner yield of 24,000.

Its digital copying technology allows it to handle copying at a decent speed of 16 CPM (copies per minute) in a zooming range of 25% to 200%. Printing needs are satisfied with its printer resolution of 2400 x 600 DPI( with smoothing) which can also be adjusted to 600 x 600 DP at printing speed of 16 PPM (pages per minute). The print system supports a wide array of emulations including PCL6 and PostScript 3 has drivers for various platforms.

The TWAIN-compatible scanning is excellent at 20 SPM (scans per minute) with scanning features including scan-to-email and scan-to-File (SMB or FTP). It’s a whole lot flexible giving five options for scan resolution namely 150 DPI, 200 DPI, 300 DPI, 400 DPI, and 600 DPI and scanned documents can be in PDF or TIFF file format. And super G3 fax system of modem speed 33.6 Kbps offers fax memory of 5.7 MB.

Large paper volume needs are manageable with stable output quality by it claiming to produce a maximum monthly copy volume of 15,000. This performance is better yet associated with a standard paper capacity of 350 sheets which if still insufficient can be expanded for up to 1,700 sheets. The standard paper sheet capacity is given by the 250-sheet paper drawer and a 100-sheet bypass tray best for handling special media types such as transparencies and envelopes. Noise pollution aside from a nuisance is an inhibitor towards efficient workflow and so e-Studio 165 is made to be a quiet printer with its noise level to be 60 dB(A) when in operation and when in idle is 40 dB(A).

Cons:

Although dimensions are considerable at 18.21”H x 23.62”W x 25.31”, it is relatively heavy at weight of 70.1 lbs. making mobility a hassle.
