A multifunction device of components that can only take a moderate or light printing jobs does not even describe e-Studio 167 because its components notably its drum unit boasts a drum yield of up to 72,000 impressions and a toner cartridge claiming a toner yield of standard 24,000 impressions. It can take relatively abusive printing needs with it can output a maximum of 50,000 pages per month. A substantial paper sheet capacity fits this performance which is standard at 350 sheets given by the 250-sheet paper drawer and a 100-sheet Multipurpose tray perfect when using special media types such as transparencies and envelopes. This paper capacity is expandable for up to 1,700 paper sheets for your ultra-large paper volume needs. Plus the optional reversing automatic document feeder saves a lot of time as it conducts the automatic loading and flipping of paper when a double-sided output is desired. Warm-up time is within 25 seconds and first copy time is in less than 7.7 seconds.

The print system supports a wide array of emulations including PCL6 and PostScript 3 and has drivers to support various platforms. The print speed is decent at 16 PPM (pages per minute) under the resolution 2,400 x 600 DPI (with smoothing) or 600 x 600 DPI.

Copy functions include multiple copying of up to 999 in an imaging density control which can be either in text mode, photo mode or both. It handles your copy needs in a copying speed of 16 CPM (copies per minute) at a copying resolution of 2400 x 600 DPI in a reproduction ratio of 25% to 200%. Scan system presents either a 300 x 300 DPI resolution or 600 x 600 DPI resolution with a scan speed of up to 20 sheets per minute that’s TWAIN-compatible. Scanned documents can be saved as either in TIFF or PDF file format and e-Studio 167 offers scanning features as scan-to-email or scan-to-file (SMB or FTP). Fax system is super G3 compatible with a modem speed of 33.6 Kbps with a standard fax memory at 5.7 MB.

 

Cons:

Toshiba e-Studio 167 was actually released together with another two e-Studio device by Toshiba which houses same design and functionality as e-Studio 167 but with improved output speed and so benefiting from the same features described, the other two Toshiba multifunction device model namely the e-Studio 207 and e-Studio 237 is better when faster machine is needed. It is as well bulky with its dimensions of 23.62”W x 25.31”D x 18.21”H and mobility is a bit of a hassle at a weight of 70.1 lbs. Operating system compatibility is also a problem as by default, it is incompatible to newer operating system compatibility is also a hassle as by default, it is incompatible to newer operating systems namely Windows Vista and 7 since its compatibility are on operating systems prior to its release or in the case of Windows OS, its compatibility is only until Windows XP and so driver/s (if available, which may be found directly in the official manufacturer’s site) is/are needed to be downloaded and installed to be compatible with these newer operating systems.
