The installation of a new drum unit in your Brother MFC-8640D Multifunction Printer includes the execution of a very simple procedure, which is not requiring any special tools or technical skills. In the initial step of the replacement procedure, you must open the front printer cover, and then take the exhausted drum unit out of the printer by pulling it carefully towards you, but avoid touching the components surrounding the drum unit. Then, you must detach the toner cartridge from the exhausted drum unit by pulling it towards you while pressing down the lock lever, which is located on the right side of the drum unit. After that, you must take the new drum unit out of the transport packaging, but avoid touching the drum which is located on the top side of the new drum unit. Now, you must insert the toner cartridge into the new drum unit until the lock release lever is automatically moved to raised/locked position. Once the toner cartridge is securely attached, you must insert the new drum unit into the printer, and then press the [Clear/Back] button.
