I love to take pictures. It seems that I can find a photo opportunity just about anywhere. My favorite are the spontaneous moments that take no time to set up. Those moments when the perfect shot is right there in front of you. This is why I always have my camera with me and as ready to shoot as possible. I wanted to share some incredible photography with you that I cannot take credit for, but are definitely examples of the perfect picture at the perfect time.
Each of the following is a purely natural photo taken of some weather phenomenon, as it was occurring. There was no computer graphics or special lighting available at the moment these pictures were taken. They are the work of amazing photographers with an eye for the beauty of nature. They are, truly, examples of jaw dropping photography. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I love lightning shots. They never cease to amaze me. The strength and beauty shaded with a little bit of fear makes lightning a great photo opportunity. This shot looks like a lightning tree growing out of a city skyline. Just beautiful!

Have you noticed how, as time goes on, you do more and more on your computer? I was thinking about this today and realized how much of my personal information is floating around in cyber-space. Then, of course, my thoughts went to who has access to that information and what they could do with it. I have had experience with someone getting hold of my credit card number and then trying to buy themselves a nice, new television. Fortunately my credit card company caught it, but what if they hadn’t? Identity theft is a real problem that can cost you a bunch of money. If you own printers you just might be able to save yourself from the headache called identity theft!
What Can You Do?
It is vital that you protect your personal information whenever you can. Information like your address, date of birth and phone number can give an identity thief a place to start invading your personal and professional identity. This can be a problem because of the number of times we are asked to give exactly that info. It has become so commonplace that many of us don’t think twice before completing every form. It is time to start thinking.

Photography is an amazing hobby.
It allows us to see the world from a different perspective. The camera lens can help filter out some of the louder or busier parts of life, and put focus on one particular view. Whether you are a beginner or a more seasoned photographer your camera will let you see things that might go unnoticed by the naked eye. If you are not currently involved in photography, I encourage you to pick up a camera and start to see the world just a little differently.
The best way to start your photography hobby is to start taking pictures. I know, that sounds a bit simplistic, but practice will help you decide your style. There are many great photography classes, both on line and in a classroom that would be helpful to any beginner. Don’t be afraid to give one a try if you are serious about becoming an amateur photographer. There are some terms and phrases that are unique to photography. I am including some of these for you below. I hope they will be helpful to you as you start your journey as a beginner in the field of photography.

Have you seen the movie Avatar? Maybe it is because of my passion for photography but I love to watch science fiction/fantasy movies. The artistry involved in creating the fantasy worlds always amazes me. Avatar took place on the imaginary but beautiful planet called Pandora. If you saw the movie, you must have noticed how incredible the scenery was. It was dramatic, surreal and amazing. It doesn’t require going to a fantasy movie to see such gorgeous photography. We have some examples of nature photos here on Earth that would rival anything seen on Pandora.
I have gathered some of my favorite nature photos to share with you. I hope you will be as amazed as I am by these awesome examples of the real world.

Look at this amazing shot of Horseshoe Bend in Arizona. This stunning body of water is a turnabout of the Colorado River. The lookout points allow you to snap the entirety of the bend, as long as you use a wide angle lens. This photograph was most likely taken between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM when the natural light allows a deeper view of the canyon. This river bend has a surreal look that has a fantasy feel. Perhaps a river on Pandora.

Do you have a bucket list? There was a time when I thought the idea of a bucket list was foolish. Why waste time making a list of things you want to do, when you can just do all of those exciting things? As I got a little older I realized that we all have things we want to do before we die and a bucket list just gives us a venue to keep track of them. There is, actually, great joy in accomplishing an event and marking it off the list. Anyone who knows me would know that the Louvre would be at the top of my list. I crossed this major accomplishment off my list a couple of years ago. I encourage everyone to make this trip at least once in their life.
The Amazing Louvre
Trust me when I tell you that the Louvre is not just an art museum, but an incredible piece of the history of France. The Louvre sits on the bank of the Seine in beautiful, historical Paris. When it was built, the Louvre was a fortress. From the mid-16th century until 1793 the building was used as a royal palace. When Louis XIV moved to Versailles, an art museum was born. Just looking at this building from the outside is like being in the presence of the greats. The feeling of history permeates the air.

Have you ever received a telegram? I was just thinking about it this week, and realized that I have never even seen a telegram delivered to someone I know. It is funny how every generation has technologies that they grow up with, and as each new batch of technology arrives the last generation becomes obsolete. It happens faster now in this age of technology, but if we think about the number of obsolete printing technologies there are we can see how this trend is nothing new.

The History of the Telegram
The earliest version of the telegraph telegram was a non-electric device that was invented in 1794. This version only worked as a ‘line-of-sight’ device. The telegram as we know it today was developed by Samuel Morse in 1835. Morse developed the system of dots and dashes that we recognize as Morse Code. He used an electro-magnet to emboss the symbols on long strips of paper. The first message traveled from Washington DC to Baltimore. It was only 40 miles, but such a big deal. Mind boggling when you think of the messages you can send on your smart phone, isn’t it? The invention of the telephone in 1877 was considered a rival technology.
